How To Hold A Wine Glass (Like a Pro)

There’s really only one rule when it comes to holding a glass of wine: Don’t hold it by the big round part.

  1. Thumb-Rest: You need relatively big hands to pull this off comfortably, because you’re essentially resting the glass on your fist while holding it in place with your thumb. If you can pull this off, everyone will think you’re the casual badass in the room.

  2. Pinchy Time: This pro-level move has you pinching the base of the glass while balancing it on your middle finger below. The technique works great with lightweight glassware.

  3. Elevated Swirl: This takes practice but it’s worth the effort.

  4. Pinkies Out: This is an American favorite; you’ve been warned. Don’t come to us crying when you get shunned by your classy British friends. Still, Pinkies Out might be a Wine Folly favorite because it’s so cheeky.

Watch the video for some tips on how to swirl and remember to practice on both hands to be ambidextrous!
